Hudson Community Foundation Leads Effort To Raise Funds For Fireworks
4/20/2009
Hudson, Ohio – April 20, 2009 – The Hudson Community Foundation will continue to spearhead efforts to fund local fireworks. A non-profit organization that sponsors and underwrites many youth, art and community programs, Hudson Community Foundation (HCF) has made a gift of $10,000 to kick-off the 2009 Fireworks Fundraising Campaign.
“Fourth of July fireworks, a 36-year tradition in Hudson, is only possible through the generous support of our sponsors and our community residents, ” said HCF Board President Jim Hackney. The cost of the fireworks alone, not including city services, is approximately $30,000, he noted.
HCF has led the effort to donate and find sponsors for the past three years, raising more than $166,000 to date, with $100,000 residing in an endowment fund. “Our goal is to endow the event for years to come to ensure there are always fireworks to celebrate Independence Day,” said Hackney. “Our children and our families deserve to keep this wonderful tradition. Hopefully, we all can participate in supporting the event.” The date for the fireworks has been set for Friday, July 3, with a rain date of Sunday, July 5. The show will take place on the grounds of Case-Barlow Farm.
HCF soon will be sending letters to residents asking for donations. “We truly hope that residents will continue to be as generous as they have in the past. We all love and enjoy the fireworks. It’s worth supporting,” Hackney said.
