Flowers, Flowers, Flowers
At an otherwise routine City
Hall meeting one morning, a not-so-confident decision was made to see if Hudson could enter the
major leagues as to charm and beauty. After a flurry of activity by all manner
of people and organizations, our town has been buzzing with speculation about
whether Hudson
might actually emerge as winner in the national America in Bloom Contest. You may
have seen pictures in the paper showing Tom Vince and Arborist Tom Munn
escorting a team of judges around town to view the many beautiful flower boxes
in front of downtown and First and Main stores, as well as visiting other key
town beautification areas.
Naturally, those flower boxes didn’t just
magically appear one morning; they emerged from a combined effort of Hudson
Rotary, Fairmount Properties, and our own Hudson Community Foundation.
Each one of these fine
organizations committed $1,500 to the project, which needed lumber, topsoil,
flowers, transportation and just plain hard work from many sources, including
the Service Learning Class kids at Hudson High.
Learned Owl’s Liz Murphy handled administrative matters, the City provided
trucking, and The Garden Club planted flowers.
Probably at no other time in
our community’s history have we had so many wonderful things going for us, and
your HCF, in accordance with our mission statement, will continue to make
grants for the improvement of quality of life here in Hudson.
