Coalition for Children’s Mental
Health
With pride and yet humility
in the face of such an awesome project as supporting our kids with mental
health problems, Hudson Community Foundation announces a grant for $2,500 to
the Coalition for Children’s Health. The money will help fund a week-long blitz
in Hudson from
October 9 through 16, and it augments the primary funder, The Margaret Clark
Morgan Foundation. Called Children’s
Mental Health Week, the Coalition will seek to raise awareness, reduce stigma
and promote early identification and treatment for children suffering from
common brain-based disorders. And look at what our dollars will support:
- A Youth Rally for grades 4 through 12, featuring a walk at
the high school track, on Sunday, October 9.
- Nationally recognized expert Ross Szabo will speak at the High
School Auditoriums on the evening of October 10.
- A community Hero Awards Dinner will honor those in our
community who go out of their way to help troubled kids.
- Poster Contest, similar to last year’s, when 200 kids
learned about the problem and created support images.
- Song writing contest will create positive melodic messages
about kid’s mental health.
- Library and Learned Owl will feature book displays.
- HCTV Channel 25 will show the internationally acclaimed
video “Claire’s Story”, about a local family’s experience with a troubled
child.
Surely this is a grant guaranteed to bring joy to every Hudson parent.
